Bug:
When a song with a cover art is played, the cover art is displayed. If the next song doesn't have a cover art, the previous image is displayed until you do something that refreshes the display, eg. changing a tag or something. It seems that the display of a cover art doesn't refresh properly.
Has been around a couple of builds.
Settings: Display to Cover art

I can't reproduce this. Any more details?
Thanks.
-
I just tried it, and it doesn't appear to happen in normal view
but does in full screen view.
-Additional Note
After getting it to happen in full screen view,
it happened in normal view too
-
More details...not exactly sure what you need, but here's some things:
1. Graphic card is a ATI Radeon 9600, with the latest drivers (updated them 2-3 days ago, but this happened with the drivers before that too)
2. Cover art is stored as folder.jpg within the album folder.
Does it help?

Not having used MC since the party saturday, I fired it up and started playing some songs. THe view with cover art, g-force etc was hidden so I expanded it. Crash. I started MC again and this time it didn't crash, but there was some artifacts when I manually dragged it up and down, see image below.

I'm going to uninstall g-force to see if it's the cause of all this.

Normaly that is a Video Driver Problem
-
I'm not getting the problems Marty is with artifacts,
but i've worked out the cover art playing now issue is
a refresh problem.
I'm running an Nvidia card with images in tags
so totally different setup.
By moving MC off screen and then back on again the
cover art is removed. When cover art is supposed to be
there the art is not removed (as it should be).
-
I noticed that the artifacts on the posted image were due to G-force starting up. Now I've uninstalled G-force, updated my ATI drivers, and somewhere I read tha the latest ATI drivers could damage the DirectX drivers, so I re-installed those as well.
No success. The album art still sticks when PN changes to a song without any cover. But I also found out that if you resize the display window (where you have viz, cover art, track info), the stuck image disappears. So it's definitely is a refresh issue, since the window refreshes during resize.
Any other tips on how to solve this one? KingSparta's theory on bad drivers/graphic card can't be right since nothing else is weird on my system.
Is there a way to log what's going on within Cover art display? Perhaps there's something MC looks for that can't be found or something.
-
Any news on this?
I thought I'd try connecting to my desktop with MC installed through Remote Desktop to see if it was an graphic card issue. Unfortunately, the problem persists. So, unless I have both a faulty ATI card (desktop) AND Intel (laptop) there is something wrong with MC. And I still think it's a refresh issue for MC's display window.
Please help me out... I really don't want to see Nirvana cover arts when I play Howard Jones maxi-singles (Ah! Those were the days...).
-
We haven't been able to reproduce this.
I think we're missing a piece of the puzzle. Anyone else?
-
Hm... Matt, is it possible to log what's happening (or not happening) with the display pane? Can I provide something to shed light on this?
-
It is really odd to reproduce. Sometimes it works fine.
For the moment here is all i need to do to see what Marty sees.
1. Open MC
2. Select an album from Album Audio view, I click the play link
3. Move to Playing now View
4. Double click the last track of the album.
5. Move to about 10 seconds before the end of the album.
6. Wait for the track to finish.
Track Finishes
Album art remains
Stop Text appears over Album art
Stop Text disappears leaving hole in album art...
Sometimes it doesn't happen, in which case bringing up fullscreen
and then going back to normal view before performing steps 1-6 will cause it to happen.
:-\
I've seen it on two computers here running MC one with NVidia, and one with ATI.
Both were AMD Athlon 1700's, running XP Pro.
-
I noticed this recently as well. My reaction was "huh"? I know this isn't tremendously helpful other than to support the cause, such as it is ;)
-
One thing I probably have different than most ppl is that I'm using the "Alternative setting" playing songs. My girlfriend listens to alot of audio books and doesn't like my crossfading. So I've configured Aternative to play songs with crossfading and Standard mode to gapless in order to easy switch.
Could this be it? I'll try tonight!
Other setup is:
- Fullscreen to TV
- Computer is an AMD64 3000, MB is an Asus K8N-E Deluxe, 2 Sata-drives, 1 IDE.
-
I think we found and fixed it. (although we coudln't reproduce it)
Please try the next build of MC 11.1. Thanks.
-
Woohoo! Can't wait...:) Thanks!

Just installed 11.1.116 and did a quick test with cover arts. It seems to work! I'll be back later...
