Title: Media Center 11.1.105 Release Candidate
Post by: John Gateley on January 24, 2006, 04:39:22 pm
This is a late pre-release version of MC 11.1.  Your MC11.0 license will work with it.  Please post bugs here.  Please start a new thread for anything requiring discussion.  Non-bug posts will be deleted or moved.

PRICES for MC11.0 and 11.1 are here: http://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php?board=3;action=display;threadid=23311

This latest build of MC11.1 is here:
ftp://ftp.jriver.com/pub/downloads/music/MediaCenter111105.exe

11.1.105 (01/24/06)

1. Fixed: After clearing a library and importing many tracks, sorting and album analysis would not always work as expected.
2. Fixed: Library grouping views were not honoring sorting changes.
3. Fixed: Album Artist (auto) would not always get filled in right away when starting MC.
4. Changed: When adding a new device that points to a disk location, you can specify a name right there. (can also be edited in the tree later)
5. Changed: When adding a new device that points to a disk location, the path box now allows typing.
6. Fixed: Custom handheld playlist paths would not save properly.
7. NEW: Webpages inside Media Center accept drag-n-drop of other webpages to navigate to a different location.
8. NEW: When files are downloading from a service plugin, clicking "show details" in the action window shows a special downloading view.
9. NEW: Within Media Center, you can now click on any RSS Podcast link to subscribe to the Podcast.

11.1.104 (01/23/06)

1. Fixed: Thumbnail database did not properly support libraries with more than 2 GB of thumbnail data.
2. Changed: Media Center displays a better message when a file can't be played because the output plugin / hardware can't support it. (i.e. low sample rates with an ASIO output)
3. Changed: Clarified the message at the bottom of the player area text customization dialog.
4. Changed: Media Center has smoother handling of output plugin errors. (dialogs are suppressed unless 3 in a row occur, now show fully skinned, etc.)
5. Changed: The player area menu appears when clicking on the spectrum analyzer or the current track's text.
6. Fixed: MC would hang if Pause button was pressed while playing file types involving DirectShow filters.
7. Fixed: MC was slow on startup when playing a CD and there is a large library.
8. Changed: Better handling of errors when importing/playing DirectShow file types.
9. Changed: "Album" name no longer used in calculating image syncs. (because an iPod can't provide the album name of an image on reconnect)
10. Fixed: Turning on the spectrum analyzer in the playerbar wouldn't take effect until MC was resized.
11. Fixed: Search was not doing anything in library grouping views.

New Features in MC 11.1
Podcasting support
OneClick Podcast subscription
Much improved handheld support for iPod, PlayforSure devices, and many others
User-configurable locations for media types on handhelds (edit pdt.xml file in MC directory)
iPod Shuffle and Nano support
Photos and album art on iPods that support it
Automatic backup of library
Directshow support for AAC files
Much faster handling of thumbnail images (requires one-time rebuild of thumbnails)
Integrated library and library browser system

Same as last build - MC crashes when I try to burn a CD whatever route I choose to insert a blank disc. Like this:-

CD burning issues with this build. First inserting a blank CD into my PC while MC was running, clicking "take no action" when the MS dialog box opens, caused MC to freeze - Task Manager reported that MC wasn't responding. Restarted MC while the disc was in the burner, selecting files to burn caused MC to crash, restarted MC, again crashed while selecting files to burn after getting to that part of the AW.

Tried to go through the same routine and only inserted blank disc when MC requested it - MC crashed again.

Could you turn on all logging, and then email a log to johnt at jriver dot com after the crash?

Thanks.

Change in play-on-startup behaviour (v10 to v11.1)

Hi,

I use MC to "play" photo's on a pictureframe. On startup v10 could be setup to continue playing from the last picture that was being "played".

In v11.1 it starts up, goes full screen but then pauses playback so the picture stays the same indefinately, it doesn't continue to "play" the photo's, just display the last one.  (Even though "Start Playing Current playlist" is ticked

Well done with the integration of the media server - a massive improvement.

Generally, v11.1 is a massive step forward from v10. Well done JR!

Thanks

Rich

thanks...

any chance you could make filename generation possible?

currently I'm able to create a custom path like this:
             [Album Artist (auto)] - [Album]\
I'd like to do something like
             [Album Artist (auto)] - [Album]\[Track #] - [Name]

possible for 11.1?

Thanks for the loads of good stuff....

Ingo

MC/Right Click/Customize current view/
Adding, deleting or editing field will not show changes after pressing "Apply" or "OK" buttons. The changes seems to take effect uppon exiting the view and returning back.

Tag changes made to my "album rating" custom field dont get picked up in the library browser view. I have to close and re-open MC before it displays the listings correctly.

In theater view the options to select and de-select files in the Playing Now screen don't seem to work.

If I select a file I don't get the box with the "X" like in other screens and de-select ALL doesn't seem to clear the selection menu once a select has been done.

Hard to explain, but go to Playing Now in Theater View and then "Select" a file from the dropdown options, the rest should be clear.

Please when there is a view with tiles could there be a quick way to change the list style of the files shown at the bottom?  In Panes view it is in options and the right click menu.  In tiles it isn't listed.  Just a submenu in the right click would be brilliant.  Thanks

Hi there !! some problems about management of duplicate when you try to synchronise MP4 video playlist files from MC to IPOD. SYNC process try allways to transfer existing files. Same with photo playlist files.
Courage.
