Title: OT: Searching for info on "In Car Media Center Systems"

Could anyone point me in the direction
for good resources on In Car Media Center systems(Not necasserily JRiver's)?

I'm interested in this for a Usability Engineering Study for my final year of university.

I'm specifically interested in finding out the following:
Does any hardware manufacturer produce a device
soley for playing media files including video, tv and audio?
If not are there any plans in the making?
Or alternatively just computers specifically designed for use while
driving?
Equally is there any software that's been specifically designed for the
job?

So far I've seen people that have done a DIY job using
JRiver + others, I'm intested in these also. 

I've also been into some car entertainment places and been
shown £2k systems which do have TV and Sat Nav but little else...
I'm wondering if anyone's actually started bridging the gap!

Any links would be really useful.
