Just acquired "The Animals" "All-Time Greatest Hits"
Not found in YADB so I switched to CDDB and got the info. I then changed back to YADB to upload it, which appeared to work. When I put the CD in my other machine, YADB found it but it came back with "The Animals" for both artist and album. So I tried the whole things again which resulted in a duplicate entry in YADB (sorry). Now when I try the CD after clearing out cdplayer.ini and the removabled database, I get the popup box from YADB asking me to select one of the dups, bu the dups show as "Various Artists/The Animals".

Hi RemyJ,
I fixed the dup, and it looks like you had the compilation flag set when you did the update. This would cause the behavior you saw I think . Can you confirm?
Thanks

>> "Various Artists/The Animals"
this is a new problem i think
If I Have A CD From Natalie Cole "Ask A Woman Who Knows" And I Change The Artist For Track 10 To "Natalie Cole And Diana Krall" MJ now lists this as A "Various Artist" CD in a sence it is true but not really since "Natalie Cole's name was on every track.
since she is the artist for every track and just happen to have Diana Krall sing one song with her this is no where near a "Various Artist" CD

Hmmm. I didn't know there was a compilation flag. I just uploaded whatever came from CDDB. I'll re-download the CD from CDDB this evening and see what it says. I take it the flag is somewhere in the CDDB info dialog?

yes

I'd like to be a good MJ citizen but whenever I try to submit info to YADB I get an XML Parse error.
Any ideas?

Is it only the one CD? Have you tried others and did they work?
j

Just tried another CD it worked, then tried the original and it didn't.
This is the first time I've had a "submit" work!

OK, I checked...
The answer is "it depends"
When I take "CD Disc Info" I get the Gracenote progress dialog then the info dialog. The "Compilation" box is unchecked.
If I take the "Submit..." option while CDDB is sstill the preferred server, I get the dialog again and the Compilation box IS checked. If I uncheck the box and try to save the info, I get the dreaded "Malformed command..." error when it tries to send to Gracenote.
If I change my preferred server to YADB and take "Submit...", I never get the dialog to uncheck the box. It transmits immediately.
Of course, I just created another few dups trying this, sorry.

Hi RemyJ,
It's a bug, thanks for finding it.
j

Hi RemyJ,
The bug is fixed in version 378, coming out in about 10 minutes.

TimB,
Can you post the cd and track info - I know it's a pain, sorry .

TimB,
Can you post the cd and track info - I know it's a pain, sorry .
j
Sure but exactly what info are you looking for?
-=Tim=-
-
CD title, artist, genre, and year.
Track title (and artist/genre/year if it is a compilation).
Oh - and I forgot to mention, try version 378 - we fixed a bug that is probably unrelated, but maybe not.

No Go on my problem John.
The upload is still ignoring the album change although it seems that the compilation flag is no longer set.
I captured the XML being sent using the network monitor and it shows...
<YADB version="1.0">

<Hash>1963599114</Hash>

<Artist>The Animals</Artist>
<Title>The Animals</Title>
<Genre>General Rock</Genre>
<Year>0</Year>
<Disc_Length/>
...
Notice that the <tltle> element shows "The Animals" even though the MJ properties shows "All-Time Greatest Hits".
3 more dups to clean up. sorry again.

Hi RemyJ, it'll be fixed in the next build. Don't worry about the dups.

Hi TimB,
Making some progress: can you try again and tell me the exact error message?
Thanks,
j

Great on the progress...
Window Title Bar: Please Wait...
Action: Failed
Status: XML parse error '
Good luck!

TimB - fixed, and it will be out in the next build. The problem was the empty genre tags. If you want to work around it, just fill in the genre (and this would be a good test to make sure I'm right).

Mr G, you're a genius. It works! :)
(Someone give this guy a raise!)

Whoops I spoke too soon. When I followed up with an Update from Database I got the artist and album title as the same which is incorrect.

Yep, that's RemyJ's bug that is also being fixed in this build. Sorry for the confusion. I'll fix the one you submitted, and get the latest build when it comes out today.
