I have ripped a bunch of CDs to uncompressed wave files. When I play them in MC, the sound is horrible. There's a lot of static and they sound super compressed. When I play them in Windows MP, there is no problem. I use "direct sound" and "primary sound driver." Any suggestions?

It sounds like the WAV files have a bad header.
Make sure you have the latest MC 11.1 build from the top of this board, and try ripping again with MC.
Also, check out lossless compression like APE instead of WAV. You'll get the same bit-perfect quality, but use less space while getting full tagging and error detection support.

The good? news is, the sound is just as bad when I play the songs from a CD with MC as when I play the ripped version. I tried playing CDs and audio files with other players (Windows MP and Real Player) and they sounded fine. So, it seems that I may have a audio playback setup problem with MC? I tried a bunch of different settings to no effect. Any further suggestions? Thanks. -Chris

I figured it out. I switched to Wave Out and it works fine. Thanks.
