Still having problems with MC popping up the incomplete shutdown dialogue and starting in windowed mode if force closed by Windows during shutdown.

Check your startup options and command line.  MC won't start in Windowed View without being told to do so.

About the incomplete shutdown, please post the last 200 lines of a log after shutdown.  Shutdown is well logged, so we should be able to see just what happens.
