I have a simple need- the ability to open MC standard view in Playlists rather than just the options provided, e.g. Start, Playing Now, Audio, etc. I'm using a remote to control MC on an HTPC, and every scroll and click counts. I don't understand why some tree locations are provided as startup location options and not others. Different users use MC differently- why not provide the option?
Another good option would be to have MC open exactly as it was closed- same location in tree, same item highlighted, etc. Then all options are open.
Better yet, let me set things up just as I want them, then set THAT as the default opening view. Then no matter how I leave things when I close MC, I (or my wife) get the exact view I want upon opening.
Since that's not available, I thought to start MC in Theater view, where I can move Playlists to the top. The problem there is that a click doesn't play the playlist, it opens it. So instead of a click to play, I have click-scroll-click. Trivial with a mouse, I know, but 3x the work with a remote.
Am I missing some way to get this job done with the current interface of MC? Am I the only one who needs this?

I agree. There also used to be the option of having MC open in last location, which is gone now; I don't know why. I used to use that as my default; it was often helpful in reminding what I was doing the last time I had it open, especially when on a tagging spree!

Last opened would be ok.
Selecting where you want it to open would be best.

Sooo- JimH, what's the critical number to get this sort of thing done? Timescale?

You can use the spacebar or play button on your remote in Theater View to play something.
