Title: Using current playing track info in a smartlist
Post by: Deivit on February 14, 2006, 12:33:11 pm
Hi,

Is it possible to use the current playing track info in a smartlist?

This is what I'd like to do:

Create a smartlist that uses the current playing "Artist" as a search criteria and returns the 5 best songs of that artist, or the most recent album, or the 4-5 stars songs from that artist that haven't played in the last 6 months, etc., you get the idea. Docking the smartlist in the favorites menu would mean that the info would be available in 1 mouse click.

Can this be done?

If it can't be done, maybe a good approach would be enhancing the current "Locate" function so that you could do:

Locate -> Advanced -> Artist (or Song or Album) -> Playlist -> (Your smartlist(s) here)

so that when you're listening to a song by, say, Roberta Flack, you could retrieve that info for her with a couple of clicks.

What do you think? Would you use such a feature? Would it be difficult to implement?

Thanks for your time.

Very nice idea. I often go looking for the current artist or album during a shuffle.

I like it as well, would certainly open up more possibilities..

Most times im using Locate->Artist to find tracks by said artist, whether the current one playing is a dupe, if so any typos to be corrected (mostly in the Name field) and whether i still think the former rating holds up.
