Title: Error Submitting to YADB
Post by: tgack on February 15, 2006, 09:40:52 pm
I have a handful of m4p files downloaded from iTunes that are in my Media Center library and play just fine.  I do not have the DirectShow playback settings selected to try and use DirectShow (I just use Quicktime) for playback.  I do not think I have any DirectShow filters installed on my PC.

When trying to submit my m4p files to YADB, I receive the follwing error on every m4p file...

"Failed to play <filename>.m4p.  You may not have installed on your computer DirectShow filters for decoding the type of file you are trying to play.  Please install appropraite filters and try again."

Is this expected behaviour?

The error message is not very clear, but it is an error.

MC must "play" the file in order to create the signature for submission to YADB. With m4p files, since we are using a different playback engine, we can't create the signature.
