You could get your copy of Hoyle out and look up how to play Canasta.

Have a nice weekend.

I'll see how I'll be living in the year 2000.

Oops! Gotta run, the flying car is double parked.

I was a card carrying member of both Popular Mechanics and Popular Science from about 1955 until I noticed girls.  I read every page, every article for years.  I think the subscriptions were $2.50 a year.

We played mexican train dominoes and drank wine instead.  It was pretty nice.  Have a good night all.

I Read The Boy Scout Handbook

The Scout Handbook was quite a hit here when I taught youngsters. They were amazed that boys could do things like fish, make camp, go hiking and use a compass.

Young Pioneers isn't quite the same...

What is Young Pioneers?

I've was put off the scouts thing by the uniforms,
and religion.  I hear they are becoming a bit more multi-cultural round here
now however.

I've done Duke Of Edinburgh award which gets you out and
about, camping, navigating etc, with a bit of an emphasis on fun
and doing it for yourself, and they allow girls too.
Now I drive a minibus for them :)
Frustratingly however they ask that you don't build fires.
As a budding Pyromaniac I find this a very difficult concept to grasp.

What is Young Pioneers?

Chinese President Hu Jintao said that all Chinese youngsters will grow up together with the rapid development of their motherland, while a promising new century is approaching.

They are expected to be strict with themselves, to be good students at school, good children at home and good children in society. They must strive to become talented young adults, said Hu, who is also a member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Central Committee Political Bureau.

He said that the CYP is a cradle for nurturing China's children and provides a school where children can learn socialism and communism.

The Chinese Young Pioneers is the organization of Chinese children. It was founded by the Communist Party of China in 1950 and run by the Communist Youth League. It recruits all children between 7 and 14. There are 130 million young pioneers in China.

Hmmm sadly it sounds like they don't get to build campfires either!
