Title: In regards to the "could not aquire license"
Post by: Zuri on September 23, 2002, 04:13:00 pm
In regards to this *.wma playing problem, I know JimH is trying to collect more information about it.

So I've noted two things:

1) It always happens when MJ is accessing the music file. It never happens during the playing of a file.

2) This problem appears to be affecting my network connection. I know it sounds crazy, but ever since this problem started, my networking problems began. Yesterday, I lost my internet...and when I shut down MJ...it was restored to normal! I've repeated this since then and the problem with my network originates with MJ.

Just thought I'd let you know....

I am thinking about what wma stands for other than windows media?

there must be something to relate to

W = Why
M = ?
A = ?

King,
Windows Media Audio.

Zuri,
Did you install WMP 9.0 beta?

We know there is a problem but we don't know how to re-create it.  It may be that the new Windows software isn't responding correctly or in time.

Windows Media licensing (which MJ supports from WMP 8 on) does use the Internet to acquire a license.

It may be trying to get a license when it should not.

We'll find it.

Nope - no WinAmp installations at all.
Jim, you and I had at least one lengthy discussion about this about a week and a half ago, so mainly I was just giving you more symptoms to help narrow it down. I'll keep it coming as I see 'em!
THANKS FOR EVERYTHING JIM! Fantastic program overall.
