Title: AlbumView: Rest-In-Peace
Post by: RhinoBanga on September 02, 2002, 11:24:25 am
After having just downloaded and looked at MJ9 I have decided to can the development of AV.   This is due to MJ9 providing a similar set of functionality that AV does ... therefore there is no longer a need for my plugin.

I'd like to thank everyone for their help in developing AV over the past five months ... it's been good guys.

Regards,

Rhino.

I hope we see other projects from you, the ideas you had with AV were the best.

Live long and Prosper

Hi

This thread is locked then open, hmmmmm...

Well, I for one will miss AV2 too. I don't know what MJ9 has to offer in this area, but I will not be upgrading. In part it is simply because I am happy with MJ8, it does all I need, and bearing this in mind, I really can't be bothered getting it together with the online registration/limits thing, which even with a science degree has me wholly flummoxed.

Luv MJ8, but I don't need more features! So I guess I won't be lurking around here much longer, where the red pen is perhaps too readily (pun eh?) wielded.

All the best Rhino...

Ilmar

I tried MJ8 for first time today.  Seems cool.

llmar,

What does the red pen reference mean???

Rhino, that totally bums me out.

You do amazing work with your plugins.  Everything in them made me think -- why can't Media Jukebox look that good -- why can't Media Jukebox work that smoothly?

I'm hoping there's some middle ground that could keep you running with Album View 2.  It had so many cool new features...

If you'd like to talk, drop me a line at matt @ jriver.com

In any case, thanks for all of your hard work and the enormous contribution you've made to Media Jukebox.

I couldn't agree more with what Matt has said.

llmar,
Lurker is not an adequate description for you.  Aren't you responsible for this?:

Listening to: '22 - Performance_Nov4_2001' from 'Good Cuts -- Jetho' by 'Gran Pan Pan' on Media Jukebox

Hi

I am away anyway for a couple of weeks, to Holland, Belgium and France, my poor Alfa 164 V6 groaning under a full load of family and kitchen sink.

I catch the ferry in under 5 hours!

Listening to: 'La Mer - III. Dialogue du vent et de la mer' from 'Debussy: La Mer and other works (Orchestre symphonique de Montreal, Charles Dutoit)' by 'Claude Debussy' on Media Jukebox

OK, guilty as ccharged, must dash..................

Hi Rhino,

As a regular album view plugin user I join the crowd to thank you for your superb work on AV.

Didn't try MJ9 preview yet but it looks like your work on AV had a great influence on JRiver dev team !

Thanks again & take care,

christian

I remember posting some time ago that the best tribute to AV would be that its features would be included in v9.

Thanks again for all your work on this great plugin.

You know Rhino, I think you should keep after this. I gotta a feeling that there are going to be a lot of people who will stick with 8. Hey it works fine, just doesn't have the cover trick like 9. TADA, enter Album View.

Hi Rhino
I also think you should stick at it, thats if you don't mind doing so. There will be quite a few staying with Version 8. IMO
Please keep up the good work.

I concur, especially if v9 gets a price hike. I'd love to see another version for 8.0.

I agree with the others here.  What I've seen of 9 so far is impressive, but honestly, I'm not sure that I like the image view of my audio tracks. I like the image view of my albums, with a list view of the individual tracks, like there is in AV.

Of course much of this is subject to change as 9 evolves, but I still don't believe you should just scrap AV altogether.

Dear Rhinobanga,

Still using version 8, but recently rebuild my PC, I have lost the copy of your fantastic Album view. I understand you have pulled the plug on further development, but is there any change of still making the plug-in available.
