Hi,
I've recently installed a Hauppauge WinTv-PVR2-USB2 device, works fine with it's WinTv2000 program. When I try to enable it in MC (11.1.130) I get an error message:
"Failed to start TV (unknown error)"
I believe this is a newer device, note that it is a PVR2 and not just PVR.
It has a hardware ID of: USB\\Vid_2040&Pid_2400
I believe the old PVR version's ID is: USB\\Vid_2040&Pid_2900
Drivers from Hauppauge's website don't recognize this box, only the drivers that came on the installation CD work, driver version is 2.2.73.24004 (1/04/2006).
I know MC is supposed to work with the PVR-USB2 does it now need updated to work with a PVR2?
Thanks!

So it is a different device from PVR-USB2? We will have to see if and how it can be supported.
Can you email me a log file? Make sure you turn on TV log type.

I installed it on a different machine...same results.

I also have a WinTV-PVR2-USB2 (at least that is what it says on the device) but it is working OK, starting with a recent build, I think within the last three weeks. Before that I was getting the same error. After that it was just a matter of adjusting the settings. Th volume is not adjustable but other than that is is fine.
I am certaintainly not an expert but if there is somthing I can do to help I'd be glad to do what I can.
I am using WindowsXP Pro. Here is what MSINFO32 returns about my device:
Hauppauge WinTV PVR USB2 Encoder USB\VID_2040&PID_2900\5&424D515&0&7

Hauppauge WinTV PVR USB2 Encoder USB\VID_2040&PID_2900\5&424D515&0&7
This appears to be the same as my Hauppauge WinTV PVR USB2. It is not a WinTV PVR2 USB2 as MerlinWerks' is.
I do not even see WinTV PVR2 USB2 on Hauppauge's web site. But MerlinWerks' device is reported as "Hauppauge WinTV PVR2 USB2 Encoder". I made a little change in code to treat it the same as "Hauppauge WinTV PVR USB2 Encoder", even though the device filter's layout is slightly different. That seems to have worked.
