Title: Move MC To Another PC
Post by: LonWar on March 10, 2006, 07:38:07 pm: Sorry Guys... I know this has been covered before, But I can not find a thread for it... :-[

I just got me a new Computer, Now I need to set it up. How can I copy MC to this computer and still retain my Smartlists and settings.
I know to back up the Library, But wasn't there a registry that I had to copy?

The Library Backup should retain the playlists/smartlists, but it won't retain the settings. I asked about this myself, but I never found out any method of "moving" my settings to a new system. I always have to re-setup all my settings when I install MC on my systems. It would be nice if there was a file that could be created that would allow this -- i.e. a "move MC to another system" button that created a file containing all the "moveable" settings.

Note that you'll have to generate a new license key via the MC site.

I wanted to just copy the registry tree but I was moving from drive D to C for my library, different CD burner, etc. It would be nice if there was an easy to way to transfer everything applicable.

Does it have the View info as well? I thought I remembered having to recreate the view configuration.

I will double check tonight.... But I think it does....
(I didn't have time to check to see if everything was there)
