Title: Firefox as default browser
Post by: sch phase on March 11, 2006, 04:27:09 am
Anyone help ?
I use Firefox as my default browser, however, whenever I download the latest build from within MC, it always opens IE6. How can I change it to open Firefox instead  ?

What do you mean it always opens IE6?
It shouldn't be opening IE6 at all.
However the start page uses an IE component,
so there's no way it can use the FF renderer.

How can I explain without confusing myself ?
Ok
The reason I asked was that when downloading the latest version, from within MC and clicking the ftp link (below)

This latest build of MC11.1 is here:
ftp://ftp.jriver.com/pub/downloads/music/MediaCenter111143.exe

An IE download dialogue box opens, and off you go .... no problem, however I have noticed that,
if I use firefox, go to the jrmedia center website, navigate to exactly the same place in the forum and click the ftp download link, a firefox download box opens, and again no problem
But what I have noticed that the 13 or so MB is always very much quicker to download using the firefox browser, for me anyway, than the IE

I hope that makes sense

OK Understand where your at.  I doubt that will change though,
as they are using an IE renderer, it's only natural that it
opens new windows in IE.

I'd be suprised if its really is faster to download in FF though,
I've never heard of this before...
I get roughly the same download rates from both browsers.
55Kb/s

If it is a problem then i guess you'll just have to use FF!

firefox is probably starting the d'load in the background as soon as the link is clicked, so it's likely half done by the time you click the OK button. iexplorer doesn't do that, it waits untill all the options have been set before starting the d'load.
