Title: getting MC to detect CD in drive and prompt an action to choose

hi

i recently installed MC on a new laptop and when i put a CD into the CD drive MC (even if it wasn't open i think) generated a dialog box that gave me a list of options of what to do, i.e. rip CD in MC, play CD in MC, etc.  now, i don't get any dialog box, and i am not sure why.  i am aware of the autorip option, but would like to be able to choose an action each time i insert a CD.  how do i get this working again?

every time i check "Media Insert: Audio CD Action" and then click OK, and then re-open options it has unchecked itself.

also, i have auto-run in windows XP set to play CD with MC as there is no other option for MC.  is this the right option to choose, as i actually am looking to choose which action to do each time i insert a CD
