People who haven't seen snow often wonder why anyone would want to live in a cold climate like Minnesota. Here's one of the reasons.
Last night we went to bed with most of the winter's snow melted and this morning it was all back again. I think we'll get around ten inches by the time it's over. Here's my back yard:

Here in Zuerich, Switzerland last week we had half a meter snow within 24 hours which has not happened for the last 75 years. With the exception of the lake of Zuerich which was frozen in 1963 the last time, when I was a little boy, all the other lakes here were frozen and we could have nice walking or skating on the lakes. And it is still very cold with a chilly wind coming from the north. Spring is still deep asleep.
While we had very mild winters with almost no snow in the nineties, the real winters came back starting with the year 2000. Although scientists say that the earth climate gets warmer and warmer, the winters here have been again longer and colder compared to 10-20 years ago.

Still Flying JimH?
I'm still flying. Learning to fly with a bucket over my head now.

Outside my house there's around 160 cm (more than 5 feet) of snow on the ground, with 180 (6 feet) in some places because of the wind! My mastiff does OK, but the papillon has certain near death experiences almost every time she goes outside of the path we have stomped hard for her!

Oh really
it is good training
rule 1: When IMC, Always Trust Your Intstruments!
Something Kennedy should have done a few years back.

Ahhhh, IFR hoods!
Been awhile since I had one of those on.
My instructor had a high tech method to make you use different instruments. A round rubber thing with lots of little suction cups. It was a soap holder, but he'd flip them over this or that instrument and announce a failure.
The thing I appreciated was that he also found IMC to fly in. Very different than just dropping the visor.

Yippee Skippy. I'll be in Mpls. for the next seven days. :'(
It was in the low 80s here this weekend. ;D

I was more scared of the visor.
what I also hated was flying at night, and The Instructor Pilot (IP) turning off my Night Vision Goggles.
