Sorry if this has been discussed, but I couldn't find anything about it in search.
I have been systematically applying "Analyze Audio" on all of my mp3 files (40K+) recently. Every so often, I will hit a file that will hang at 99% complete. CPU usage goes to 99% and stays there. This is getting frustrating. What would cause this? The suspect files play fine in MC.
By the way, I am using 11.1.149.
Thanks for any help, Chuck.

:-\ OK, I guess this is not a common problem. I'm just trying to find out what it is about these files (approx. 2K) that cause Analyze Audio to hang.
-
I'm not aware of this being a common problem.
Do the same files cause the hang each time? If so, please email one to matt at jriver dot com.
Thanks.
-
:) Yes, it is the same files each time. I will email you one. Thanks, Chuck!

I had the same problem back in the 9.0 days. It turned out to be an issue with the file names having problematic characters in some of the filenames (as far as MC was concerned). I renamed those files which solved the problem.
-
:) Thanks for your input modelmaker, but I don't see any special characters in the filenames of the files that don't work that aren't in the files that do work (in general, the only special character in the filenames is a - dash).
-
How about the total pathname?
IIRC, there was an issue regarding the total pathname length as well. If it looks as though the pathname is really long, try moving one of the files just to the root of C: and then try analyzing it.

Fixed next build. There was an issue with mono files.
Thanks.

:D OK, thanks Matt. And thanks to all input! Chuck.

;D Works great!
I now have all but one of my audio files analyzed. The one file that would not work (actually crashes MC when attempt Analyze Audio on it) is a 2 second mp3 clip of Alfred Hitchcock saying "Good evening ladies and gentlemen", that I used on an oldies comp cd.
Thanks for the fast work, Chuck.

If you have a file that causes a crash, please email a copy to matt @ jriver.com.
Thanks for all your help Chuck.

:) OK Matt, I have sent the file to you. Thanks again, Chuck.
