I observed the workings of the stack more closely and I am wondering how the algorithm behind is working?
I have a group of 12 artists grouped in the period named "Impressionists". The number of files per artist ranges from 70-1200 with a total of about 6000 files. I would assume that the stack gives a broad picture of what can be seen below, for example displaying 2-5 images of every single artist. But close observation reveals that only about 20-25 images of 2 or 3 artists are cycled through! There is not a single image of the artists with the largest numbers of files!
So I was just wondering about the mechanics of the stack ?

The dirty little secret is that stacks are only around 60 images deep. This is for performance.
To see all the images inside a tile, click the "Files" link on the tile.

What's the stack?
I'm new to Music Center. I saw the term "stack(s)" in another thread and looked for an explanation in the help file and searched this forum. I haven't found an explanation yet. (So far, I'm using MC 11 for audio and I don't use album images so maybe I haven't come to an area of MC where a stack would be obvious.

Deivit shows it in action well here.

Basically When you've got say an Artist
that's produced many CD Albums each one will
have an album cover.
When viewing by Artist MC has always allowed
you to hover the mouse over the artist to flick
through the different cover arts.
A recent change to this was to be able to
see the other cover arts underneath the current one.
Some people like it, other people like it less.
It's used all over the place but thats the obvious example.

Mr ChriZ,
Thanks for the explanation. My MC 11 vocabulary is getting larger.
