For months now, the tooltip on my MC tray icon has shown truncated playing now information.

Is there a certain limit on the amount of characters the tooltip will show?

Yes, there's a Windows limit of 64 characters.

To my knowledge, Foobar2000's tray icon shows much more than 64 characters in their tooltip. The last time I checked at least. Perhaps someone on the forum who uses foobar2000 as well could chime in on this one.

I know it's always dangerous territory when we start pointing at others and saying "well they do it, why don't you" but I think this is an instance where it applies quite well. Seems logical to me to either have all the information its trying to show, or none, not half-way.

The limit varies depending on your version of IE.

MC uses 64 characters as the limit because this is always safe.
