Title: AAC File Tagging & iTunes (again)
Post by: bspachman on April 03, 2006, 07:48:34 pm
Splitting this out from another thread...

Will MC be able to recognize user-defined tags created in iTunes for AAC files?

See http://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php?topic=30561.msg225994#msg225994 for more details...

In a nutshell, if you apply a non-standard genre tag in iTunes (like 'Rock/Pop'). MC is not able to pick it up...

Best,
Brad

Does that include full read and write support for all AAC tags, including Disc # and Rating?

No. It still is read only. And only custom Genre is added. I will try adding more.

In the next build (165) MC will read Disk #, Comment, and BPM (tempo) tags from AAC files.

Seems to work great for me! I selected my entire library, told it to "Fill Properties (from tags)" and went to sleep.

13000 tracks later, everything was updated (with the exception of about 20 files that had something wrong with their tags to begin with).

The only glitch I found is that a dialog box popped up to tell me some kind of status info, but the dialog box was blank--no text, no buttons. Pressing <enter> dismissed it, but I have no idea what it was for. I'm guessing some kind of skin incompatibility? I currently use "Aruba"....

Thanks for the wonderfully quick update!
Brad

I did the same thing with 14,000 tracks, and it worked flawlessly!  ;D
