hi
i have MC server running on main laptop, and connect to this server on a second laptop. i am able to connect to the server, and my media library comes up as it should, but i am unable to play any of the files. on the main laptop, on the library server page, i can see that there is an error message, which is the same for any file i try to play 'error sharing file, file not found'. this is despite the fact that i can access all of these files over the network on the second laptop, and play them from within explorer. so the files do exist, and can be access by the second laptop, but for some reason i can't play them from MC. all of the music files are flac and, on the second laptop, i have specified that the flacs should be converted to mp3s - i am not sure if this is significant,
does anyone have any ideas as to what might be going on here?
thanks

What version of MC are you using? Is it the same build on both PC's?
Try sharing a few MP3 files, just to eliminate the possibility of a FLAC problem.

i am using latest version of MC on both laptops
i tried with an MP3 file, and all worked fine, but only if selected 'don't convert audio' in the library options. if i selected either of the other 2 options, it wouldn't play.

What version, please? You can copy your system info from MC Help and paste it here.
Can you play the files on the server? If you're doing conversions, can you convert them on the server?

Sorry, I broke conversion a few days ago. I'll get it fixed, hopefully in the next build...

This is the same problem I was reporting in another thread. Glad to know what it is finally. :)

The new build (just out) has a fix for this. I haven't tested it with Flac yet though.

The Flac conversion also works...
