Title: Translation of User Defined Fields?
Post by: Jaguu on April 06, 2006, 05:00:49 pm
There seems to be some translation mismatch with user defined fields!

Where do I enter the translation of user defined fields?

1) Translation file?
Don't think they can go in the main translation file as they would be overridden after every beta release!

2) Display field in Options>Library?
Then there are mismatches with plurals in the menu selection for library view!

Example: A field name "gallery" would be translated to "Gallerie" in German
But on the menu selection of the library view an "s" is always added thus giving "Galleries" instead of "Gallerien"

Also the view scheme names are user defined and should somehow translated in a separate user language file!

For user defined fields, give them a translated name as the display name.

Plurals are a tricky problem.  We're still thinking.

Why donīt use only singular names?

Clicking "Album" to see all my Folk albums just doesn't feel right.

Iīm the translator of the spanish version, and I remember there was two words for each user defined fields, one in singular and one in plural... later your team deleted the plurals in language.txt...
