Title: MC and Screensavers
Post by: EpF on April 09, 2006, 03:08:04 pm
Anyone know if you can change some setting whereby if MC is playing a track, the screensaver doesn't activate?

Second-best would be a shortcut or utility that allows you to disable the screensaver without having to jump through the default hoops it takes to do that...

many many moons ago, I came across some screensavers that I thought were quite cool. and they're still going..

I don't know if they still do, but they used to bundle a screensaver control app for your system tray. double clicking it would run the saver, right clicking it brings up this menu:

There are a fair few of these around, some free, some not so free, but of all the ones I tried, I found this the least troublesome. I've used it, and a nice piece of abandonware called hidden menu ( http://home.i-cable.com/lokinwai/ ) every day for several years now.

if you want the screensaver thing,  click here (http://www.theganghut.co.uk/files/runner.zip), (15.4 Kb), extract it somewhere out of the way and make a shortcut for it in your startup folder.

Cheers Marko - I nabbed both of them! HiddenMenu is great little utility, and Runner does exactly what I want.

Glad you like them.
if you find you will make good use of hidden menu, remember and keep a backup of the ini file, coz the last thing you'd want to do is rebuild the thing after a format, etc. etc.
