Title: OT: Flash 8 won't Install - Any Alternatives?
Post by: datdude on April 12, 2006, 09:59:55 pm
Adobe is really laying a big one here, as its all over their boards. :o

Does an alternative flash player exist, because I haven't been able to view flash pages for about 2 weeks now, and haven't gotten a non-automated support e-mail from Adobe/Macromedia.

Has anyone else had this problem and been able to fix it?

It might be a browser security setting problem.

What do you mean, can't view flash or can't install the player?

If it is that you can't view flash, you should look at the latest MS updates.
They have had to disable automatic loading of external content (flash, shockwave, etc) due to losing a lawsuit.

The patch has been out there for a few weeks, but was recently forced on systems via auto updates.

In case anyone was having the same problem, there is finally a fix  (no thanks to adobe though): http://docxp.mvps.org/b1n/FlashRepair.exe

What it did, I don't know, but it worked.
