Title: Unexpected licence restoration
Post by: mjw on April 11, 2006, 06:53:23 pm
Hi,

I received a message from JRiver stating that:

"You have recently restored a licence for Media Center 11. This product has a limit of 10 restores per year, and you now have 4 restores remaining."

To my best knowledge I have not used this option recently. Why did I get this message?
Also, why do I have only 4 restores remaining?
Finally, what am I supposed to do with the attached "Media Center11-61718.mjr" file? I put it in the main MediaCenter directory.

Kind regards
mjw

If you double click the file, it will licence MC.

If you didn't use those restores, JRiver will need to look at this in the morning....

Thank you very much for your reply.

Concerning the restores: I might have used them once or twice but I cannot remember using them 6 times.

Kind regards

No worries, JRiver has them all timed stamped, I'm sure they will be able to sort this out with you.

You still have restores left.  Please let us know if you find that they are gone.

Someone did a restore using your license. Did you ever give it to anyone? A friend or family member? I've got the IP address: it's a dialin address from t-online.de (looks like a T-Mobile branch in Germany). Sound familiar?

You have recently restored a licence for Media Center 11. This product has a limit of 10 restores per year, and you now have 3 restores remaining.

The restore should have activated Media Center on your PC automatically.

The Install Key is attached to this email. It is valid for the next 14 days. To install on another PC, save it on a floppy disk or other media, and execute it on the second PC where you have Media Center installed. If you need an Install Key, generate a new one at the restore page:
https://rover.jriver.com/cgi-bin/restore.cgi

For more info visit:
http://www.jrmediacenter.com/purchase.html

Still have questions? Please do not reply to this e-mail. Support is only available online at Interact where help from staff and users is provided:

Best Wishes,

The Media Center Team

I did not, to my best knowledge, request restoration of my licence key. It worries me that I've got only 3 restoration attempts left - in spite of not having used this option more than once or twice...

Have you given your code to anyone else? A family member perhaps?

Hi,

Thanks for your reply.
No, I did never give away my license to anyone and I cannot imagine it being stolen (but, who knows...).
The IP address from t-online.de does not sound familiar either.

Does anyone else have access to the PC?  Have you talked with your children?

Hmmm... it could happen. Sometimes, rather seldom, I will allow some friends to connect, check mail, web sites etc. However they live in Sweden, not in Germany and are not, I would say, that knowledgeable as to make use of my registration codes. Of course, you never know...
There are no children at home.

My PC is free from viruses and spy/malware as I check it on a regular basis and automatically update the virus definitions.
