Media JukeBox accepts my license but still won't let me rip.
When I go to Encoding (MP3) I am told that my trial period is up even though I "bought" this program some time ago. I go through the Restore license process and am told Media JukeBox Plus license is restored. When I try to Rip... I get the same messages over and over again. What is up?
Version 8.0.400 (License 7)

Make sure your clock is correct.
Have you changed the system name of your machine?
Do you have admin rights?
A virus checker may be preventing MJ from writing to the registry.
Try doing a search for other license problems. Here's an example:

Clock and date are correct.
I'm not sure about the system name. If I have changed it, how would I know and then what?
I do have admin rights.
I disconnected from the internet, turned all virus checkers and firewalls off but got the same results.
Haven't found anything that has helped searching license topics.

I'm not sure about the system name. If I have changed it, how would I know and then what?
A laptop that moves back and forth to work may have software that does this automatically.
-
Jim,
I don't have a laptop.
But even if I did, it sounds like "your" software is subject to problems which were coded into the software. Shouldn't there be a way, for a product I paid for, to continue to work and if it does need fixing to be fixed without going through this?
It is not uncommon for me to have to periodically restore the license. I've just accepted it. Now I can't convert files to mp3s to put on my 7 year old sons MP3 player.
You do this every day. What's up?
-
I don't believe the software is the problem. It's something specific about the PC. Can you try it on another PC to confirm this?
I'm sorry, but I don't think there's anything we can do.
-
I'd be happy to try. How do I get this program onto another computer?
Also, this program has been on this computer for years. If something has changed that effects MJ, just tell me what it could be and I'll fix it. I keep hearing, "check the clock." Is the tolerence in seconds, minutes, hours, days, or years? If it's system name, where do I look to see what MJ is looking for? If it's in the registery, I can either change it there or re-name the system. Those are the kinds of solutions I am hunting for.
For now, just tell me how to load the program onto another computer and I'll see if it works there.
We can come back to my machine later.
Thanks

>>Sometimes the OS System clock gets reset, so the first check is to see if your PC has the correct date. The trial version times out after 30 days, so if the date in the system clock isn't set correctly, MC will show that error message.
>>Do you have a router & network? If so, have you made any changes there recently? Given the pc a network name perhaps? Have you made any other changes or added any new programs since this problem started. The more info you can provide, the better we are able to help.
>>You could download the install file directly to the other pc if it is connected to the internet. Or copy the install file to a CD-R and install from that, or if you are networked copy the .exe file to the other pc that way.
>>Hang in there! Between all of us here on this forum we will find the solution.

Jay,
I have had this program for years. I don't see an install program anywhere. Please note that it accepts my license restore but won't let me convert files and keep giving me the "trial period has expired" msg.
I see that J River is selling v. 8 for $14 for Plus. I already have Plus but can't get it to work. Can I download that install somewhere and apply my license restore?

Is this what you're looking for?

i think he\she is looking for MJ7, that he\she needs to register, and then install MJ8 over top of MJ8.
I see that J River is selling v. 8 for $14 for Plus. I already have Plus
Actually It Sounds Like You Own MJ72 Plus And Not MJ8 Plus
If he she does not have the rrg file (license for MJ7) then he\she can not register MJ7. and there is no way for a MJ7 to license a copy of MJ7 if they did not save a copy of the rrg license file that it prompted users to do when they registered the program originally.
with a licensed copy of MJ7, MJ8 was a free upgrade for Licensed MJ7 users.
Here Is MJ72

Jay,
After all the dinking around, all I had to do was download and install a replacement copy and restore the license.
Sometimes the simple approach is the best approach. The file was corrupted - not my computer. Why did I have to think of it myself???
