Title: SmartList request (maybe...)
Post by: JimT on September 19, 2002, 04:30:27 am
I really love Media Jukebox - I was using RealOne prior, but their licensing crap turned me off.

One feature of RealOne I liked a lot was the ability to specify the maximum length of a playlist - very useful when making a random playlist to download to your MP3 player. Is that feature available in MJ? (I'm running 8.0.372 BTW).

Even more valuable than being about to specify max length is specifying max MB - I have 96M in my player and I want to create a playlist with that in mind. If I remember correctly, RealOne lets you specify the max length, which, unless you encode everything at 128 Kbs, makes size calcs difficult.

Once again, MJ is great! I've been recommending it to everyone !

Hey Jim.

You sure can do this with MJ (although it's a little geeky)

Check out the help file for the search / smartlist modifiers.

Examples:

an hour of rock: genre=[Rock] ~t=60
100 MB of rock: genre=[Rock] ~s=100

This whole thing will be a lot smoother and less geeky with version 9.

Thanks and hope that helps.
