I think the only way is a plugin called TrueLaunchbar.
It's not on this site, so you will need to do a google search for it.
-
You create a folder somewhere on your hard drive. Put in this folder shortcuts to all the MC commands you want available such as play/pause, stop, skip track, ratings, etc.
Here's the command for play: c:\WINNT\system32\MC11.exe /MCC 10000, 0
Once you have them all you'll want to assign the correct icons.
Here's a pack that I got from another user on this board.

This is not what you asked for, but you may want to try the Foxytunes plugin for Firefox (on the top right in this picture) and the extremely thin Blade and Paradigm Essence mini skins. You can make these skins to stay always on top and to be partly transparent when not active. Here is the Blade:

The mini skins are available at the Skins & Plugins download page:

thanks alex
i think i am out of luck i dont use firefox, i use Maxthon, do i need to have firefox open to be able to use this?
-
Foxytunes works only with Firefox. Naturally, the mini skins don't need other programs.

That is how I did it too.
Just create a short cut and write fx MC11 /Power . This will start MC whenever it's closed and close MC whenever it is open.
Check all the commands here: http://www.jrmediacenter.com/DevZone/CommandLine.html
It is fairly easy to use.

pank2k2, are you using the same icons I shared with zxsix?
they're the best I could come up with after spending way too much time crawling around the internet looking for suitable icons.
If you're using different icons, d'ya fancy sharing?
-
Ok, that will get the commands on the toolbar... Can you get it to display the name of the track?
-
nope :)
bet it's possible to get a playingnow skin to sit over the taskbar like that though. you could get most of that functionality included.
lets see now:
player control buttons? yes
show/hide main UI? yes
name of track, current, previous and next? yes (via use of tooltips)
volume? maybe (depends on space available)
playingnow would not be able to do the "expansion" stuff. mini skins can do the some of that I think? lower left/lower right spring to mind?

I have edited some icons from Nero.exe (the burner). They are just black and white arrows. Plain symbols. If anybody is interested I can post them, but they are on the stationary computer (I'm using the laptop at the moment).
