My problem is that my music, image and video 'rename files from properties' expressions are all different. Could you improve the 'rename files from properties' box in either of these ways:
a) Allow the user to save presets so that they can save all the expressions they reguarly use
b) Allow the user to have different expressions for each main file type (possibly even for each file extension)
I know this could probably be done entirely in the expression box itself by the user, but this would be fiddly and difficult to update.

I use one expression for paths and another for filenames. It's deffo do-able, and time well spent.
My media type requirements are also all different, with a couple of genre rules lobbed in there for good measure.
MC remembers the last used options for this tool, so all I have to do is hit the OK button as soon as it appears.
Job done.
The single remaining shortcoming is that we cannot use expressions in the base path field. I was surprised you didn't mention that.
you know that every expression/mask you use in the tool is saved under the presets entry you see beside the rule button for each field?

I would like to have:
1) kind of an expression editor
2) save expressions by name, so that only names will be used and editing would take place in the expression editor (similar to Excel)
3) expressions being saved in the library and not in the registry

I'd like to see an 'Advanced' button and if clicked it just let's you do the most obvious stuff in a simple way without typing complicated expressions. Examples of the most obvious stuff would be:
- A different file location for each media type
- Use the first letter of the artist name as a sub directory.
