Sorry, just have to ask again. Hope I can get a answer this time.
WHEN are you guys going to introduce half star ratings? It can't be a huge problem can it?
Today I use a custom half rating "yes" and "no" field with the original star rating. Because I like the graphic star view I need them both. But It's hell to make smartlists with it.
Don't want this thread end in a dicussion of why I need it. I just need more accurate ratings for good smartlists. That's it. Don't care if ppl need 2, 5, 7 or 10 steps in their rating system. With a half star rating system you could just use what you need anyway. I just can't see any downside of it.
Can you?

This probably won't happen.

Oh man. Thats bad news!
To bad there is so many darn good functions in this application, otherwise I could have gone back to iTunes :D
Anyway... May I ask why? It's stored like 1,2,3,4,5 integer right? Can't be that hard to go up to 10 and change the graphics a bit. Do you even need to do any modifications to the database? ::)

Bigger fish to fry.

My biggest source of problems in MC and it will probably never be fixed... That is what I call frustrating
Just give me the source code.
I'll make the changes in 10 minutes 8)

Create a custom field. You can use any numbers or text you want then.

Then you lose the graphics. If you can't add .5 ratings, how about addidng the ability to add graphics (stars) to a custom field?

I know. I have done that with a kind of boolean expression, thinking of changing it to numbers only for easier smartlist generation.

I totally agree. It's a darn shame to loose the graphics. Much easier to view graphics than numbers. A option for using cosum fields with costum graphics would be just what I have been looking for. Would make my day big time!

Send us a self addressed stamped envelope and let us know where you'll be on February 29, 2066. I'll be 205 on that day and ready for retirement.

Wow! 139 years... That's old. I should be able to find you in Guiness book of records then.
I'll post my findings when you retire so you got something to look forward to
Have a good day

Do it !!
i use a half star rating field of Type Decimal. It's easier to read i think than your boolean yes/no. Only populated if there is a half star rating else left blank.
I only wish i had done this a lot earlier. The primary reason i use half star ratings is it stabilises album scores. You dont have to give fours when a track is a 3.5 nor 2's when a 2.5 would work.
iTunes (can support) as well as helium have half star ratings already.
Bring this topic up when they get started on v12. I think its too late to make it now.
Remember to be polite and persistant.

Don't joke about it Mr Haugen. In many parts he is known as the Great Jim of Minneapolis.
Jim's vast and endless wisdom is known throughout the developed world and beyond :)

Yes, don't make fun of me please. I don't want to cry myself to sleep tonight.
And I am wise. Some ppl just call me "the oracle" :P
I'm going to change to a 10 integer system untill they implement half ratings. Persistant is my middle name.
Have a good one folks!
Best regards
