Can you use a dvd-rom disk for mp3 playing say from dvd player or others things
-
As long as your DVD player plays mp3's.
Should say so on the fromt of the unit.

Some DVD players I've used (specifically both a RCA and a Sharp unit) are quite dumb...
Even though they can read MP3's, and DVD-+R discs, they cannot read MP3's on a DVD-+R disc (only on a CD-R). It says so in their instruction manuals, but that's really of little comfort after you've wasted a few hours burning discs.

I tried playing mp3 files on the Philips DVP 642 and it played
those files with no trouble. What makes this DVD Player unit worth buying is that it can play mpeg or AVI or even DIVX files on a CD-R/DVD-R. :)

Yeah.... I have a very nice Toshiba (HD upscaling) DVD player that does that (including MP4's as well). The Sharp I mentioned above does too but only on CD media and not DVD media (quite annoying).
