Title: Problem with playing i-tunes files from Server
Post by: Marcel de Man on May 15, 2006, 03:37:13 pm
Hi I have a problem playing I-tunes(MP4) files from the mediaserver.
I have quicktime and the computer is authorized to play these files. The problem is that quicktime is complaing about the filename having more then 64 characters. Anyone know a workaround for this??

Thanks
Marcel

That's a QT limitation.  Try shortening the path by moving files to a directory like C:\music (to test).

Hi jim,

I was afraid for that. Ok I shortened my path and shorted the filenames of the files that didn't work. It is ok now.

With build 11.1.185, you should be able to play mp4/m4a from the server without having to shorten the name and path, provided that you

1. have installed DirectShow filters to play these file types;
2. in case of mp4, have told MC to try using DirectShow to play it.
