nice. makes a mockery of my attempts (http://www.theganghut.co.uk/panorama/)!!

I think, that to do these nicely, a fixed focal length and a tripod are essential. I've been wanting to play with the 360° quicktime thing for a while, but alas, that is yet another thing that must wait till I have more disposable time on my hands (and a tripod) :)

Great work, ferent! This is the first time I have really enjoyed panorama shots. The interactive scrolling makes the difference.

I tried to figure out how these images could be displayed in an art gallery without using a computer display.

I became to a conclusion that a spherical image would need to be displayed inside a perfectly sphere-shaped room that has the picture "painted" all over the inner surface. From outside the room would look like a giant ball on the floor. After you have entered the sphere and closed the door behind you (which is also covered with the picture) the only distracting things would be some kind of bridge, which would probably be needed for easier entering and the used light sources (unless the sphere is translucent and illuminated from the outside).
