Title: Lightscribe does any one use it?

On my new PC I am thinking of getting 2 lightscribe devices.  What do you think about that?

I have one, It is nice, it works.

it takes along time however

thats private, but

I have had the drive for over a year

and depending on the quality it can take like 30 mins and you must select best quality to get something that looks decent.

if you just use text and no background image it only takes a min or two

there is a software and fermware upgrade that increased the speed

also the newer drives are a bit faster.

I have a lightscribe drive, after getting the special discs and software, burned one, not that impressed and does take some time.

Ink Jet printers which handle CD/DVD media really seem like to way to go--they're faster, they're cheaper (come on, if an ink jet is cheaper than you, you're doing something *wrong*), they're color, and all they have to do is become more common. Even at that, there are probably more ink-jet printers which are CD/DVD capable than there are CD/DVD drives that can do *any* kind of labeling."

I have a Epson printer that prints on DVD's, It works VERY well and it's fast.
You can get a Perpetual Ink System for around 100 bucks. The ink system lasts as long as about 10 cartridges,

how does the ink dry on the CD or does it need a label? is it special ink?

I use a Canon Pixma IP4000 to print CD / DVD.

King, you use special media with printable label sides (they're always clearly marked as such in the shops). This printer takes about 40 secs to print a label, and the software is dead easy to use.

Normal ink, it's dry right when it comes out,

Graphics come out great. The DVD's aren't that much more, I get mine on sale and I pay the same for a printable as I would for a normal one.
