Title: iPod transfers slow
Post by: ageyfman on May 30, 2006, 01:33:27 pm
When I download my music to an ipod (60gig video), the transfers are slow (~2 mb/sec) if I am looking at the ipod view as it changes the status from waiting to uploading to complete.

The wierd thing is that it's only slow when the status change happens within the bottom 1/3 of the list on the screen - thus, if I page down so the next status change is at the top of the list, the rate jumps from 1.9-2.5 mb/sec to 6-9 mb/sec. It happens every time, and it's pretty annoying - as I need to look at it copy the files - unless I want it to take 3 times longer than it should. I am running 11.1.183 registered.

I am on a brand new T60p dual core, and USB works just fine on it. Please let me know!

Are you encoding on the fly?

Not at all. all files are MP3s. It's odd, because whenever it gets to the bottom of the current screen's list, it slows down...

I don't know exactly which version of MC i'm using, but it's one of the latest.
Since i've updated MC, the transfer rate from MC to my iPod is SUPER SLOW.
100 mg can last 2 or 3 min...
1gb can last..........

You can copy your system info from MC Help and paste it here.

Kill the ipodhelper in task bar if it's running.

Are you converting formats?

I am encoding on the fly, so expect some delays - but the encoding isn't the bottleneck.  Between one track registering as 100%, then changing its status to complete, then starting the next track can tack 10-15 seconds.

Without changing anything, there is no more problem...
Its transfering at 3-5 mb/s
Computers.....
