I'm thinking of buying a Samsung YEPP YP-Z5 MP3 player...one review says is needs Windows Media Player 10 (but as long as that is loaded, you can drag & drop from Explorer), and also says that it doesn't have a "UMS" mode. And Windows will initially see it as an MTP device.

I refuse to buy anything that I can't manage wirh MC11; so will it work?

It will work with RealPlayer 10.5, and so it should work with MC.  A new firmware upgrade adds UMS support.
