You're right.
But try switching playback from wave out to direct sound or from direct sound to wave out.

tried thanks but no luck its wierd last night went to win amp .com didnt work at first listening to thier music then all o the sudden boom sound back to normal.this morning tried to record a tape i had tried on neroes which did the same thing good sound dull low sound to it worked great until i played 1 song on microsoft mediaplayer then boom program was worthless just like this one.so i giveup and blame them.

You may have some DSP software in line. Take a look in task manager.

ya just removed dfx dsp from pluggins in your program still dead sound thats the only 2 pluggins i had installed resarted puter too. 1 was still my control panel add remove programs so i uninstalled it and will now restart again

no luck but i do see microsoft little yellow shield everytime i restart which is freaken me out since it never ever hardly seen it unless i actually get an update lol. and it does update anything strange its a microsoft conspiracy. ;D

well i uninstalled juke box 8 and my inline sound is still really low and dull soundining this has happened on almost all software i have tried works great for awhile then dull low sound i was gona purchase this software because it and nero sounded the best but micro____ gremlins are in thier somewhere.

Are you feeding the sound to an amplifier? If so, maybe the amp is failing.
