Title: Tagging for Photos
Post by: rpalmer68 on June 08, 2006, 08:44:50 am
A question for those using MC to manage their images;

I'm interested in how you're structuring the tagging of your photos.

This is a big task, so would really like to make sure I've thought through this and seen other ideas before I tag 1000's of images!

Cheers
Richard

There is interesting reading about Image Databases:

I use People/Places/Events tags for my pics in MC. It's a default view I think.

Most of my photos are of places, so i use
Country/Area/Places and then a custom tag called "Photo Album" which allows for multiple values for organizing them by themes.

For photos of people I usually tag the following:
People/Photo Album and the Country\Area\Place fields if relevant.

I rate the better ones to 4 stars and then have a viewscheme that only shows me 4+ star images. This is good for when you want to watch slideshows.

I use a few view schemes depending on what it is I want to view.

For people, I use: People/People/Year - Album/Place
For places: Country/Region/City/Place
For albums: Group/Year - Album

The people/people setip allows you to view, for example, pictures with Fred and Mary in them.

And then some organisational/tagging ones (which show where I got the photo from, who took it etc)

Have a look at Marko's discussion a few threads down:
