Title: Crossfader doesn't work on some tracks.
Post by: dje06 on June 13, 2006, 11:14:01 am
I just noticed that the crossfader doesn't work on all the tracks. Can anyone explain this? I have it set up on Crossfade smooth (6s). With some of the tracks in my playlist, the previous track starts fading out 6 seconds before its end but the next track doesn't kick in until the last one completely stops. As far as I can tell there's nothing different about those tracks. All are in mp3 format, 128kbps.

You can force a constant sample-rate using DSP Studio, which features one of the highest quality resamplers available.

So I'm gonna take a wild guess that the sample rate relates to improper crossfading somehow?

It is impossible to play two audio streams that have a different sample rate through the same audio output simultaneously.

Just switch the sample rate to 44.1 kHz permanently if most of your audio files are ripped from audio CDs (44.1 kHz).

If you have a sound card that resamples everything to 48 kHz (for example, most Sound Blasters and integrated sound cards do that) you may want to use 48 kHz instead. The software resampling in MC has higher quality.

Thank you for this great explanation!
