MY MC is using an ungodly amount of resources! Anyone with similar problem or fixes??? It is slowing down everything else. I am running a Pentium III w/ 1G ram.
Dell Dimension 8300.

Are you running any intensive visualisations in playing now?
Sometimes they remain running even when you switch to a different view.
See if you can narrow down when the cpu load goes up after
starting MC.
It's running here at about 2-5% even when playing APE files,
so it's not the norm.

Podcast downloads?
Over eager virus checker?
-
Had a similar problem related to logging.
Do you have logging enabled (Help > Configure Debug Logging)? Turn it off!
-
audio scrobbler plugin ?

None of the first 4 replies have solved prob. Anyone else care to weigh in??
Thanks

Take a very careful look at what you have running in the background. Windows Task Manager.
My money is still on the virus checker.

Here's my post in another thread on this topic.

The rest of that thread might have some helpful information as well.

I now believe it is the virus scan. I have McAfee. What now???

There may be an option to scan every file every time it's loaded. Turn that off.

Actually, it does NOT seem to be the McAfee. I believe this problem started after the last update. Is it possible to go back to the previous version??? I only use MC as a storage device and jukebox, no podcasts or DL's.
