Title: Reporting bugs
Post by: Johnny B on June 19, 2006, 04:06:32 pm
A old Bug is still exist Daniel 2k posted it again and again.

Hmmm... I do wonder: is it necessary to post the found bug(s) again and again and again until it's solved? Or until someone from the MC team says "OK we know about it"? Or what is the proper way of reporting bugs anyway? Copy & paste could be such a boring process...

That I cannot answer to you,
make a suggestion like it would be better?

I think it would be good if JR started using a publicly viewable online bug database, something like a bugzilla (http://www.bugzilla.org/). The public could then search current bugs, maybe view their status, maybe comment on bugs, and file new bugs.

Bugzilla is great, I like it and I think MC must implement it...

A bug tracking database would be great. I use another product that uses Mantis, and it is very good. By taking all the bug reporting traffic and putting it in a place where it is actioned, it makes the discussion forums also a lot more useful.

We have lots of experience with professional bug tracking systems in our other lives.  We quite like how Interact works for bug handling by comparison.  Important issues get fixed, one-off issues don't live forever, and it's straightforward for us and people with a problem to use.

The best approach is to keep your own list of bugs and simply post it in the build thread.  Keep in mind we're only fixing critical bugs in MC 11 at this stage.

Thanks.  We really do appreciate all of your help making MC better.
