Title: New installation expired immediately!
Post by: Aristotelis on June 22, 2006, 12:41:33 pm
Hello,

I downloaded Media Center from TuCows, I installed it and then tried to start it but it said that the trial version expired!

I tried to find help in the forums but nothing.

I did not change the date nor the name of the pc.

It is a samsung laptop with winXP Pro sp2 and latest updates.

The downloaded file is: MediaCenter11.exe

Also, I am looking an application for my PDA (hp, new) that will permit me to view my audio songs in my pda sorted by: bpm, evaluation(rating) and artist   (with that order). And play them ofcourse.

I would like to try MediaCenter (unless ofcourse you tell me it has nothing to do with what I want).

Thanks.

Tucows hosts an obsolete version. I didn't install it, but the file size is identical with the 11.0.309 build from July 2005. The latest version is 11.1.188, which is available here: http://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php?topic=34272.0

I don't know why the 11.0 trial expired, but I think it is irreversible. I think MC11.1 is not counted as a different trial (correct, Jim?)

Since you use XP you may have the System Restore function active. If so, you may be able to uninstall MC11.0 and revert your system state before the date/time you installed MC (I suppose you have not previously installed an MC trial that would have expired). After that try MC11.1.118 (or newer).

I am not sure what you want from the PDA integration. MC is an excellent program for Windows computers. It can easily do what you explained on a PC, but it is not for PDA playback. Besides handling MP3 players MC can keep any device that shows up as a removable drive synchronised with a PC media library and it has several configuration options for that.

Hello, thanks for hte reply.

So MC does not also have an application to use in the pda? Besides the management of the files in the PC (which I am still looking for an application), more urgently I need an app for the pda. I thought MC had that as well... If it doesn't, could anyone point to any others or places to look for?
Thanks.

Thank you KingSparta! I am already checking your list.

You seem to know about this subject, maybe you could tell me if what I want exists at all... I would like to have a list of my music in my pda where I could order it by bpm field (and maybe then by evaluation field). Does this exist or am I daydreaming?

Thanks again.

Hi again, I installed PocketMusic (the winner) and it only seems to show (and use to order the list) the following fields: Title, Filename, Full path, track number, creation time. No bpm, no evaluation...  :(
Is what I am looking for unreasonable?...?

You can easily mass change the field contents and filenames with MC. It has several tools for that.

Here is how I would change them for using with "PocketMusic".

Before:

After:

After this change the filenames can be used for sorting by BPM and track numbers for sorting by Rating.
