I searched the forums and done some experimenting. There seems to be no way to sync and maintain MY directory structure. I have the following directory structure:
Genre/Artist/Year Album-Name/Track-No Track-Title
For example:
S:\Salsa\Celia Cruz\1975 Tremendo Cache\01 Cucala.flac
S:\Salsa\Various Artists\2005 Afro-Latin Party\10 Samba Luku Samba.flac
I can't use "File & Paths" [Genre]\[Artist]\[Date] [Album]\" because if the album is a compilation then the date or artist for a song may be different. This would split the songs in the album into multiple directories.
I then tried "File & Paths" [Filename] but that produces
S:\Salsa\Celia Cruz\1975 Tremendo Cache\01 Cucala.flac\01 Cucala.flac
Almost but no cigar since there is a directory for each song.
How about adding support for something like "File & Paths" [Directory] ? [Directory] would be the directory that file resides in minus the drive letter. Or maybe even [Directory:n] where "n" is the last n subdirectories.
Seems it would be simple to implement.

I presume your talking about using the
Rename Files from properties tool?
Have you considered using Extended tags to
create a tag called
[Album Date]
And then filling this in, you could then use this
in rename files from properties
Theres already a tag called
[Album Artist]
And you can use [Album Artist(Auto)] which will use [Artist] unless the [Album Artist] field is filled in, which case it uses [Album Artist]
Which you can use again to get the artist for the entire album.
If you need more help with how to use these just say!
Welcome to Interact by the way!
Edit: Forgot the auto part

The easiest way to do what Mr ChriZ explained is to always use [Album Artist (auto)] instead of [Artist] in the file location rules.
Though, then the "VA" albums will go to "S:\[Genre]\(Multiple Artists)\..." by default. If that matters write "Various Artists" in the Album Artist field.
For making this easier you can add the Album Artist and Album Artist (auto) columns to a details view (Customize Current View...).
Edit
Don't change manually the contents of the "Album Artist (auto)" field. Use always only the plain Album Artist field for edits (if needed at all). Also make sure that all album files have exactly the same album artist.

Thanks guys for your reponse. I am syncing with an IAudio portable player. That player does not have browsing by tags which is why I want to maintain the directory structure.
I looked at the tags defined in Tools->Options->Library and discovered "Filename (path)". So I set "Files & Paths" to this in the sync options and now:
S:\Salsa\Celia Cruz\1975 Tremendo Cache\01 Cucala.flac
Gets synced to this on my IAudio device:
\S_\Salsa\Celia Cruz\1975 Tremendo Cache\01 Cucala.flac
This is exactly what I wanted and I didn't have to add any new tags.
BTW I used to use MediaMonkey and JRiver MC is much better.
