Title: keeping APE and MP3 copies for ipod
Post by: slipknot on July 09, 2006, 02:18:36 pm
I've read that some of you either keep a copy of your music as lossless and then keep another mp3 copy for the ipod (or another handheld).  How do you manage that?  Do you keep 2 libraries and switch libraries to manage the handleld?

I've been unable to fill up my ipod over the weekend having MC convert from APE to MP3 for the ipod.  It could take weeks to fill the thing up at this rate.

I have configured the handheld system to use a hard disc folder instead of a physical portable.

I just add the files that I like convert to a "Handheld" playlist. MC can keep this playlist synchronized with the virtual handheld folder and convert on the fly. Though, I prefer to sync manually when the PC is not used for other tasks.

I import the files from this virtual handheld to another library that I use for synchronizing portables and burning MP3 CDs for my car.

I removed my ipod as a device and set up a folder as a device.

But when I drag files to the handheld nothing happens at all.  Any tips on what I may be doing wrong?
