Title: Watched Folders - Needs manual import more options?
Post by: Deivit on July 12, 2006, 01:05:39 pm
Hi,

Could it be possible to add the 3 options of the "Task" submenu of "Watched folders" (Build missing thumbnails, update for external changes, etc.) under the "advanced" button of the "Add folder to Library" dialogue?

Let's imagine you've disabled the watch folders option in Tools -> Options -> Library. You can always perform a "manual import" using the option "Add folder to Library" under the Tools menu. However, ij this case you don't have access to those 3 options.

I think it should be easy to add and would make more sense.

Thank you.

Add folder isn't designed to do anything except add files.

Doing other work is the job of otto, which can be configured in options.

Which options? I only see Build thumbs, Fix broken links and Update...

Is there any plans for letting Otto fill out tags and so on? It would be nice if you could set up a task list. Below example is one task I do often:

1. Import video file(s)
2. Set [Name] to directory name
3. Set [Album] to directory name
4. Assign file to Series or Movie

If I could configure Otto to do some of these tasks like:
1. Import file(s)
2. If Video, set [Name] to directory name
3. If Video, set [Album] to directory name

And the one thing I would do manually is to apply Movie or Series to the files. :)

I wish Otto would sleep for 1-2 minutes when MC is started.
It seems his scan takes quite a bit out of the system as MC opens very slowly.

Afterward, when I add files to watched directories, I can tell that Otto is doing something, but it is only because I am looking for it. Quite unobtrusive on my system anyway.

Give the new build a shot.  It should start much faster.

Yes, I always run audio analysis, rename files from properties, clean file properties, before anything else.  Automating these would be perfect!!!

Much agreement.  Now that Otto's part of the family, put him to work!

Indeed it does.

Well yes But I Would Prefer Set [Artist] To From Dir Name (One Folder Back)

C:\My Files\A\Abbot And Costello\

Artist = "Abbot And Costello"
