Title: XP SP1 problems, need help
Post by: DeathRider on September 14, 2002, 06:12:25 pm
Hello yall. I downloaded and installed SP1 for XP and now I lost my surround sound. all settings are correct but no sound out of my rear speakers. Any one got a clue as to what is going on and have had a similar EXperience.  any help is much appreciated. Oh, by the way. If I run the EAX enviroment demo I get sound from all speakers as normal, if I run MJ or MS Media player I get 2 speakers only.

Thanks

I used to have problems with the speakers not retaining my 5.1 settings -- kept reverting to plain Desktop Speakers.

ControlPanel->Sounds and Audio Devices->Advanced... and make sure your speakers are set correctly.

I believe this is a device driver issue. Mine cleared up when Cmedia updated their drivers.

I have always used creative sound cards since they were the standard for bench mark on games. But I have heard so much about Turtle Beach on this site and on TechTV that at the end of the year when the prices come down on the P4's I will finish building a new syst and put a Turtle Beach sound card in it.
