Title: saving settings (preferences)

There doesn't seem to be a 'save settings' function prior to upgrading--especially irritating to lose my display settings in "customize current view"

A long standing request, here's hoping it will be addressed in the future.

atm, best i can do is make screen shots of customise current view for commonly used viewschemes.
