Title: Media Centre will not install

For inexplicable reasons Media Centre 11.1.83 stopped 'working' some time ago. I downloaded the same version and it wouldn't install. As soon as the process starts it shuts down and that's that. Everything else on the computer is 'fine'. I cannot offer an explanation as to why it 'broke' and there is seemingly nothing I can do to re-instate the program. I couldn't sign in today without changing my password only to find when I did sign in that my original username was shown? I have tried again to re-install and nothings changed. The installation ceases more or less as soon as it starts?
What can I do to re-install Media Centre?

It could be anything.  Virus checker, etc.

IE7 beta has been causing problems.  There is a thread on that.
