I just finished relinking all of my cover art, including them in the MP3 tags using the following procedure:
1. select the files > right-click > Image > Remove Cover Art
(Answer no when MC asks a permission to delete the image files from the disk.)
2. select the files > right-click > Image > Quick Find In File / Cover Art Directory
After I did this I found a lot of missing Cover Art that I knew I had. Upon investigation I found they were there, but I had changed either the artist or album name in MC and the Cover Art files themselves were not renamed accordingly. Of course the Quick Find could not find the files in this situation.
My question is - Is this the way it is supposed to work or is this a bug?
Thanks,
Randy

If you use internal cover art, this complication can be avoided.

Matt,
I assume you mean when the option is set to 'store images in tags also', which will put the image in the MP3 file.
If that is the case, that is what I do, however, some of my cover art was added when the option was turned off. To clean it up I relinked everything from scratch.
I'm not sure for the specific problems I found if the option was turned on or off. Does MC ever rename the cover art image file? If not I can keep everything clean as I make changes.

that it's a problem with the central, external folder method of storing coverart is not up for argument surely adds validity to the request for the return of the 'remove unused coverart' tool?
